Why were Amsterdam and Rotterdam chosen for the 2027 international study tour?
The Netherlands is a country with a very high rate of social renting. More than 30% of the country’s housing stock is non-market housing—the highest rate of any OECD country. What’s more, the country has historically had a more evidence-based approach to harm reduction than most other countries. Amsterdam is an obvious choice of city by virtue of it being the capital and having a well-known Red Light District. Rotterdam, home to Europe’s largest port, offers an interesting contrast, especially in light of recent redevelopment.
How much is the registration fee and what does the registration fee cover?
The registration fee for this study tour is CA$1,950 + applicable taxes. That includes a one-week guided tour with a focus on affordable housing and homelessness. It also includes several webinars taking place before we arrive in The Netherlands. Participants are responsible for their own travel, accommodation, and meals.

What about accommodations during the tour?
Accommodations during the tour will be the sole responsiblity of the participant.
In Amsterdam, Nick Falvo Consulting recommends the citizenM Amsterdam Amstel located at Sarphatistraat 47, 1018 EW Amsterdam, Netherlands.
In Rotterdam, Nick Falvo Consulting recommends the citizenM Rotterdam located at Gelderseplein 50, 3011 WZ Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Some considerations to keep in mind:
We start the tour in Amsterdam on Monday morning, Feb 22. On Wednesday, Feb 24, we travel from Amsterdam to Rotterdam. We then spend Thursday (Feb 25) and Friday (Feb 26) in Rotterdam. We expect the study tour to end on Friday (Feb 26) in Rotterdam.
With the above in mind, please plan to spend the following nights in Amsterdam:
Sunday night, February 21
Monday night, February 22
Tuesday night, February 23
Please plan to spend the following nights in Rotterdam:
Wednesday night, February 24
Thursday night, February 25
Other nights in each city can also be booked, depending on your travel desire.

In order to secure your spot, please complete and submit one of the two versions of the application form found below. Once submitted, you will be contacted to complete payment. Once payment is received, you will receive a confirmation email of your secured spot on the tour. Note that regardless of which form your complete, you will need to download it to your computer to complete it.
